The genus Aquimarina is considered a primary pathogen associated with Epizootic Shell Disease (ESD) in American lobsters (Homarus americanus). However, because Aquimarina species are naturally present in marine environments, the specific strains and mechanisms by which they contribute to disease development remain unclear. In this study, we isolated and identified Aquimarina muelleri from shell lesions of lobsters with ESD and aim to investigate their pathogenicity to elucidate their role in ESD pathogenesis.
