Medial prefrontal cortices (mPFCs) were dissected from the brain of control or antibiotic-treated 10 week old male mice, before or after fear conditioning and extinction learning for transcriptional analysis. Overall design: Mouse mPFCs were dissected by referring to the Allen Brain Atlas. Coordinates relative to bregma are: 1.3 to 2.8 mm anterior, -1 to 1 mm lateral, and 0 to 1 mm ventral. RNA was extracted using Trizol (Invitrogen) and chloroform and further purified using the RNAeasy mini spin columns (Qiagen).
