Reference database of V2 18S rDNA barcode sequences of autotrophic euglenids

Version 1. (reference database used in publication 'Evaluation of V2 18S rDNA barcode and assessment of sample collection and DNA extraction methods for metabarcoding of autotrophic euglenids').The deposited dataset contains 466 sequences of hypervariable V2 region of 18S rDNA belonging to 156 species of autotrophic euglenids. Dataset can be used as reference sequence library in barcoding or metabarcoding studies concerning that group of organisms. Sequences were trimmed based on sequences of euglenid specific primers targeting V2 18S rDNA fragment. Species assignment of 424 sequences originating from GenBank database were verified based on literature data. Following 42 sequences stem from environmental isolates and were assigned to species based on cell morphology and phylogenetic position of sequences. Unaligned sequences are deposited in a single fasta file with headers following the scheme:> strain/isolate number|GenBank accession number|Genus_species
