Induction by caterpillars of stored and emitted volatiles in terpene chemotypes from populations of wild cotton (Gossypium hirsutum)

Datasets and R scripts related to the publication "Induction by caterpillars of stored and emitted volatiles in terpene chemotypes from populations of wild cotton (Gossypium hirsutum); https://doi.org/10.1186/s12870-025-06088-7 LeafVOCs.xlsx is a data set containing the concentrations (ng/mg of fresh weight) of volatile organic compounds stored in the fourth leaves of undamaged wild cotton plants and plants damaged by Spodoptera exigua for two days on the first and second leaves. HeadspaceVOCs.xlsx is a data set containing the emission rates (ng/h/cm2 of whole plants' leaf surface) of volatile organic compounds emitted in the headspace of undamaged wild cotton plants and plants damaged by Spodoptera exigua for two days on the first and second leaves. WildCottonHIPVs.R is the R code used to analyze these data sets. PropMedian.xlsx contains median values of the emission rates by chemotype and herbivory treatment arranged to produce Figure 3B in the code.
