Institutional capabilities of amici curiae in the Supremo Tribunal Federal: accessibility, admissibility and influence

Abstract The amici curiae promise to diversify and improve the quality of decisions of the Supreme Federal Court and are increasingly part of the litigation strategy of organizations before the Supreme Court (STF). In order to know what role amici curiae can play in strategic litigation in the Supreme Court, this article analyzes the institutional capacities conferred to the amicus curiae briefs, that is, if they offer accessibility, admissibility and influence to fully meet its duties.
