A synopsis of anatomical features highlighted by Mn2+ MRI as a function of time after injection into the prefrontal cortex. At 26 hrs these anterior cortical areas are highlighted in the WT mouse: S, M, Cg, and RS. For comparison, the rightmost column (SERT 25 hr) shows features highlighted in our previous SERT KO study at 25 hr after Mn2+ injection into the prefrontal cortex [33]. Anatomical features were identified by comparing images like those shown in Figure 4 with standard mouse brain atlases ([119] and the Allen Brain Atlas [120]).
