microbiota of mice with colitis

Colitis is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease characterized by gut microbiota dysbiosis. Probiotics have shown potential in alleviating colitis symptoms. This study aims to investigate the therapeutic effects of [Lactobacillus acidophilus] (LA) and [Pediococcus acidilactici] (PA), administered individually or in combination, on Dextran Sulfate Sodium (DSS)-induced colitis in mice. To explore the underlying mechanism, specifically regarding the gut microbiota, we collected colonic content samples from different experimental groups. The V3-V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene was sequenced to analyze the changes in microbial diversity and composition. The goal is to evaluate whether the combined administration of LA and PA exerts a synergistic protective effect against colitis via modulating the gut flora.
