Up to now, the rice landraces in Yunnan were still grown by local farmers under on-farm conservation conditions, which were passed down from generation to generation. However, little is known about how the natural and artificial selection processes interact to shape and change the population genetics of rice landraces under on-farm conservation during the domestication. In this study, we explore the patterns of genome-wide genetic changes over time in rice landraces under on-farm conservation during 27-year domestication and provide a scientific basis for the on-farm conservation.
