This metadata record provides details of the data supporting the claims of the related manuscript: “Neighborhood deadwood and yard rewilding modulate commensal microbiomes and inflammatory signals among urbanites”.
The related intervention study evaluated the effect of urban private yard rewilding on commensal microbiome, salivary cytokine levels, and gene pathways.

Sample size: 65
Population characteristics: The medical exclusion criteria included immune deficiencies, a disease affecting immune response, cancer diagnosis within the last year or on-going cancer treatment. Other exclusion criteria included incompetency and living outside city area. Inclusion criteria was that the form of housing in a detached or row house.
Recruitment: Participants for this study were enrolled from three cities in Finland: Helsinki, Lahti and Kaarina.
