The Monoculture system has been the main rice cropping system for several years attempting against rice yield and soil physico-chemical properties. Rice cropping requires a highly systematized land management promoting soil degradation. Rice-pasture rotations reduce these valuable resource losses and improve rice yield. Soil microbial diversity and taxonomy of paddy rice under these contrasting land managements may play important roles in regulating nutrient disponibility and soil functions.
