Diversity of Insects within the Grasslands using a Quadrant

During this lab, the abundance of species within a quadrant either placed in mowed grass or unmowed grass  were observed. This took place in grasslands which is occupied by fairly short grass and  also contains many plants and large amounts of evenly grown grass. The objective was to place our quadrants in areas that contained mowed grass and unmowed grass, and upon doing so,  an overall count of the number of species contained within this area. After using the quadrant approximate ly six times iin the mowed and unmowed grass, you begin to realize the diversity of species is a lot more abundant in the unmowed grass and this may be due to the approximattity of the plant and animal species to one another as compared to the unmowed grass. The quandrant measures 1m x 1m and they are observed for a period of 3 minutes and after taking the data needed, the quadrant is placed in a location 3 meters away form where it was before.and this is done a total of six times on unmowed grass and mowed grass.
