The structures of the novel compounds K3Ln(AsS4)2 (Ln = Nd, Sm, Gd) contain infinite straight (AsS4)2]3- anionic chains which are composed of interconnected LnS8 polyhedra and AsS4 tetrahedra. The compounds were synthesized via reactions of Ln metals with in-situ-formed potassium polythioarsenate fluxes.
