Dataset 'Japanese serow mating system Modeling 1' contains data about social interaction between adult male and females and covariates, from 20 Japanese serows (6 male and 14 female) in the Mt. Asama, central Japan, from 2014-2021. Includes IDs of dyad, survey period, social interaction type (sexual, tolerant, or agonistic interaction), spatial relationships of dyad (spatial mate or spatial non mate), and period (rutting or non rutting).<br> Dataset 'Japanese serow mating system Modeling 2' contains data about mating system and covariates. Includes IDs of male, survey period, number of females in which males form spatially mating relationships (degree of social polygyny), alpine meadow areas in the male’s home range (ha), and female density (individuals / km²) during the rutting season. <br> R code 'R code Japanese serow mating system' is for performing generalized linear models and model selection (see main text).
