Using a single factor inter subject design, participants were randomly assigned to either the positive barrage group or the negative barrage group (barrage potency: positive/negative). The dependent variables include academic emotions (happiness, frustration, boredom), learning outcomes (recognition, transfer), and subjective cognitive load (psychological effort, subjective difficulty). The control variables are background knowledge level and pre learning positive and negative emotional levels.
