Michigan Public Water Supply Service Line Replacement

Michigan's drinking water regulations require public water supplies to replace all lead and galvanized previously connected to lead (GPCL) service lines at the water supply's expense. Starting in January 2021, community water supplies with lead or GPCL service lines are required to replace these service lines within 20 years and submit an Annual Service Line Replacement Report (ASLRR) to EGLE. This dataset consists of polygons that represent the boundaries of townships, cities, villages, and census designated places, as well as a table that includes the yearly service line replacement information for each Community Water Supplies from 2021 to 2025. These boundaries are used to represent a coarse service extent of the Community Water Supply within the Service Line Replacement Dashboard. Fields were created to better associate boundaries to the Community Water Supplies (CWS), as well as the population served by those community water supplies as determined by each CWS and entered into the Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) Federal Data Warehouse. The PwsId and Supply Name fields include information to identify which municipal boundary matches each CWS. The Population Count field is used in the dashboard as a way to better statistically normalize the service line replacement values. Only the CWS systems that have reported at least one service line replacement from 2021 to 2025 have CWS data. This data will be updated by EGLE staff on an annual basis. Note: not all community water supplies have service line replacements recorded for each of the years and some community water supplies have reported to have already replaced all lead and galvanized metal service lines prior to 2021.
