VPRS 12339 Submissions Relating to Appointments

This series comprises Cabinet submissions relating to senior appointments from March 1994 to 1999. From at least 1982 the appointment of senior government officers, appointments to statutory positions and significant boards, councils and advisory bodies and appointments of Members of Parliament to Parliamentary Committees were considered by Cabinet. Where an appointment needed to be made by the Governor in Council, the Cabinet would make a recommendation to the Executive Council.Most appointments considered by Cabinet were the subject of a Cabinet Submission. Apart from differences in systems of arrangement which are discussed below, these submissions were of a similar format and purpose to all other Cabinet submissions.
