Vitamin B12 alleviates myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury

To examine the protective effect of B12 on myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury and figure out the mechanism of B12. Overall design: The mice were separated, on random, into 4 groups: Sham, Sham+B12, ischemia/reperfusion model (I/R), I/R+B12. B12 treatment groups at dose of 50 mg/L via drinking water 7 days before I/R procedure. The per day water intake of mice was 4mL. Mice were anesthetized with 2% isoflurane and placed in a supine position on a heating pad (37 ?) for left thoracotomy under mechanical ventilation. To induce I/R injury, the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) of the mice was occluded and then released after 45 min of ischemia, followed by 24 h reperfusion. Sham-operated animals underwent the same procedure without LAD occlusion.After heart specimens were harvested, high-throughput sequencing was then performed.
