This 2001 Population Census Dataset encompasses statistics covering demographic, household, educational, economic, housing, and internal migration characteristics of the Hong Kong population residing in 139 Small Planning Statistical Areas (Large Combined Groups) in 2001. This dataset also provides the boundary delineations of each Small Planning Statistical Area (Large Combined Group). Since 1961, Hong Kong has conducted a decennial population census, with a mid-year population survey implemented in the inter-censual years. The 2001 Population Census was fielded in March 2001, delivering benchmark statistics on the social and economic profiles of Hong Kong's population. These statistics are of critical importance for the government's policy planning and formulation. This dataset will be incorporated into the thematic spatial data collection under the Population Distribution Framework.
