Supporting data for Jarvis et al. "Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities and mixing in surface-propagating gravity currents" submitted to European Journal of Mechanics - B/Fluids
收藏资源简介:
The directory contains experimental data associated with Jarvis et al. "Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities and mixing in surface-propagating gravity currents" submitted to European Journal of Mechanics - B/Fluids. The raw experimental data consists of high-resolution videos used to film the experiments. The data here represent the minimally processed data obtained from those videos. Each subdirectory corresponds to a single experiment, where the subdirectory name is the experiment label. A list of experiments can be found in Table 1 of Jarvis et al. Within each subdirectory, the following can be found: 1) File "front_pos.csv". This contains the front position of the gravity current as a function of time. There are six columns of data: 1) The frame number, numbered from the start of the video. 2) The time, in seconds, measured from the moment of gate removal. 3) The front position of the gravity current, measured in pixels from the left hand edge of the image. 4) The front position of the gravity current, measured in mm, from the gate position. 5) The error, in seconds, on the time value in column 2. 6) The error, in mm, of the front position value in column 4. 2) Subdirectory "interface". This contains a large number of .csv files contain data pertaining to the position of the current interface in different image frames. The files are named as "NUM.csv", where NUM corresponds to the frame number. For example, "31.csv" contains data captured from frame 31 of the video. In each file, there are two columns: 1) The horizontal position, in mm, along the flume, measured with respect to the gate position. Negative values correspond to space to the left of the gate. 2) The position of the current interface, measured in mm, from the free surface. The procedure for defining the interface position is described in Jarvis et al. 3) Subdirectory "thickness". This contains a large number of .csv files contain data pertaining to the thickness of the current in different image frames. 2) The thickness of the current, measured in mm. The procedure for defining the current thickness is described in Jarvis et al.
