All-day Digital: Digital Media and Media Education in the Social World of All-day Schools

Digitalisation facilitates access to knowledge and makes it less dependent on learning locations and times. So far, however, these processes of dissolution of boundaries have mainly been investigated within individual educational contexts and have not yet been fully utilised. The research project investigates how different educational locations and processes can interact with each other in the context of all-day schools in order to promote media education. The perspectives of children and young people as well as organisational and media education framework conditions are taken into account. The research questions include the role of digital media in different educational settings, their significance from the perspective of learners and the development of forms of co-operation to promote media education. The results are intended to identify conditions for successful media education and formulate recommendations for action to promote digitalisation in all-day schools. The study is divided into a quantitative and a qualitative data section. In these two sub-studies, longitudinal data was collected from secondary school pupils in the form of media diaries.
