Suomi-NPP VIIRS Level-3 Global Mapped Triple-window Sea Surface Temperature (SST3) - Near Real-time (NRT) Data, version 2016.2

The Ocean Biology DAAC produces near real-time (NRT) products using the best-available combination of ancillary data from meteorological and ozone data. As such, the inputs and the calibration used are less than optimal. Near real-time products provide a snapshot of the data during a short time period within a single orbit. SST_triple provides sea surface temperature retrieved with a triple-window thermal-infrared algorithm that combines three atmospheric “windows” (typically near 8.6 µm, 11 µm, and 12 µm) to better correct for water-vapor effects compared with standard split-window SST. Geophysical variables in this suite include: - sst_triple — Triple-window Sea Surface Temperature (°C) - qual_sst_triple — Quality levels for SST_triple (integer quality flag)
