Mobile Money Payment: An Antidote to Petty Corruption?

This study used the World Bank Enterprise Survey two-period panel data to analyse the impact of mobile money on petty corruption in Kenya. This data contains information on firm characteristics, mobile money use, and informal payments made by firms. Results from a matched difference-in-differences estimator demonstrate that mobile money led to a 3.1 percentage point reduction in bribe payments.
