As of a 2024 ranking of the leading mining companies in the world based on employee count, the Swiss company Glencore was the world's largest mining employer, at nearly 84,000 people. Sibanye-Stillwater is the world's largest primary platinum producer, and was the second largest mining employer at that time, with almost 83,000 employees.
