Phytophthora litchii strain:SHS3 Genome sequencing and assembly

Peronophythora litchii is the pathogen responsible for downy blight, causing significant economic loss to litchi (Litchi chinensis). Peronophythora litchii has been identified as an orphan among oomycete species, primarily due to the similarity and difference of its morphological and physiological features to the Phytophthora and Peronospora genera. The taxonomic status of P. litchii continues to be uncertain. For an extended period of time it was classified into the Peronophythoraceae family and Peronophthora genus that customized for it, but a recent report transferred it to Phytophthora clade 4. To evaluate this special oomycete species and important litchi pathogen, we sequenced the genome of P. litchii.
