RXC J0303.8-7752\: An unprecedented 2-Mpc tail in an off-axis cluster merger

We propose a 147 ks XMMNewton observation of the galaxy cluster RXCJ0303.87752. Shallow observations show there is a taillike structure with alength of 2Mpc alongside the main cluster, which is the longest such featureever reported. The deeper observations proposed here are needed in order toreveal the merging and the formation history of this rare tail, and in a broadertext, to understand the heating and virialization processes of the ICM whenaccreting matter from subhalos.
