Soela Voyage SO 5/81 Biological Data Overview

This record is an overview entry for biological data collected on Soela cruise SO 5/91. This cruise took place in the Great Australian Bight during 18 November - 15 December 1981, under the leadership of Stephanie Davenport. Biological data collected on this cruise include fish abundance and fish trace data from the EK50 Echosounder. 120 species of fish from demersal trawls - 30 elasmobranchs and 90 teleosts. Length, weight, gonad stage and stomach fullness from 550 Trachurus declivis, 147 Scomber australasicus, 58 Sardinops neopilchardus, 30 Trachurus mccullochi and limited numbers of Etrumeus jacksoniensis and Engraulis australis. Otoliths, gonads and stomachs were retained. Diel feeding data of Trachurus declivis. Larval and juvenile fish samples. Surface temperature and salinity data from hydrological sampling. Squid samples including Nototodarus gouldi (480 kg) from trawling in the Bight. Sexed lenth-frequency data for 600 N. gouldi.
