An isolate of the conifer fungal pathogen Gremmeniella abietina was chosen for the characterisation of its dsRNA- banding pattern. One of the bands, with a size of ca. 6kb was purified and cloned with the purpose of confirming the occurrence of a possible virus. Here, we present a partial sequence of a possible novel virus species that we propose to call Gremmeniella Fusarivirus 1 (GFV1)
