RNAseq of E. coli Sakai O157:H7 in the presence of the flexicate compound Λ-5b

The synthetic flexicate compound Λ-5b shows potent antimicrobial activity against E. coli. In this study we investigated the transcriptomic response of a clinically relevant E. coli, EHEC O157:H7, to a sublethal concentration of the compound. E. coli Sakai O157:H7 stx- grown to mid-exponential was treated with either methanol (control) or 0.5 µg/ml of Λ-5b (dissolved in methanol). Samples undergoing the two treatments were paired ie they originated from the same culture. Following a 40 min incubation samples were harvested and RNA was extracted.
