Akadēmiskās teoloģijas virzieni Tartu Academia Gustaviana un Gustavo-Carolina

This article examines the development of academic theology at Academia Gustaviana (1632–1656) and Academia Gustavo-Carolina (1690–1710) in Tartu, focusing on the role of theological disputations and their significance in the process of confessionalization. Particular attention is given to the content of disputations, which reflect the influence of Lutheran orthodoxy and, later, Pietism, as well as to Olaus Moberg’s doctoral disputation in 1699, which marked the last significant theological event of the Gustavo-Carolina period. The study explores the theological stances of professors, the impact of university statutes on the curriculum, and the intellectual diversity that characterized the academic environment of the Swedish Empire in Estonia and Livonia on the eve of the Great Northern War. It highlights the dialogue between academic theology, political authorities, and the institutional church, which shaped the Lutheran identity in the region.
