Why do some peeople like maths? A Q methodology study.

Mathematical participation and performance are declining in Australia. Research states that economic prosperity, both of an individual and a country are linked to mathematical ability. This study will investigate and analyse the perceptions of people who love mathematics. It is anticipated that an understanding of the intrinsic attributes discovered through interviews will result in the construction of profiles of the participants. Having profiles of what it is, that makes people love maths will provide insight into making educational environments more conducive to encouraging students to love mathematics. Greater enjoyable participation in mathematics will support the correlation to greater economic prosperity for Australia.
