The Pleurotus pulmonarius genome encodes enzymes capable of lignin degradation, making it a promising candidate for biopulping applications. However, the mechanism of lignocellulose degradation by P. pulmonarius is not fully understood. To investigate this, we conducted a transcriptomic analysis comparing P. pulmonarius growth on tender coconut fiber versus glucose medium, revealing 66 upregulated and 108 downregulated genes on tender coconut fiber.
