Investigation of diversity of Bradyrhizobium in field grown sorghum

The aim of this study is to reveal genomic and functional diversity of Bradyrhizobium species in roots of non-leguminous sorghum plants by legume trapping (soybean nodulation) and direct isolation procedures. Phylogenetic analysis, N2 fixation and nodulation assays were conducted on Bradyrhizobium isolated from sorghum roots. The isolates were categorized into rhizobia, free-living diazotrophs and non-diazotrophs, which belong to B. diazoefficiens, B. japonicum, B. ottawaense and B. oligotrophicum.
