Using a sequential adaptive experimental design, we successfully demonstrate that a passive eDNA detection field tool, consisting of pear-baited alkathene pipes equipped with Dacron filters for eDNA capture, can effectively monitor the occupancy of a cryptic Otago skink (Oligosoma otagense) population.
