Dosage compensation is spatiotemporally regulated by different X chromosome sequence elements

Dosage compensation equalizes X-linked and autosomal gene expression in male Drosophila melanogaster. This project investigates how dosage compensation is dynamically regulated across developmental stages and tissues. Using epigenomic and 3D genome data, we define dosage-compensated genes by binding of the MSL complex and associated histone modifications. We identify constitutive, facultative, and tissue-specific classes of dosage-compensated genes with distinct chromatin architectures.
