NARRATIVES AND IMAGINARIES OF THE ENERGY TRANSITION TO SUSTAINABILITY: STAKEHOLDERS PERSPECTIVES IN BRAZIL

The research was a comprehensive study of how narratives and imaginaries about the energy transition to sustainability are integral to energy policy and the development of transition paths to sustainability. By adopting the perspective of analysis of the Social Studies of Science and Technology, we used the concept of sociotechnical imaginaries to interpret how visions, narratives, and imaginaries are part of energy policy and the processes of transition to sustainability. Our approach was thorough, employing the methodologies of Critical Discourse Analysis and Thematic Content Analysis to analyze content from stakeholder interviews, Ten-Year Energy Expansion Plans, and news published in leading national media outlets. The results underscore the vital role of imaginaries in political disputes and the governance of energy transition, demonstrating that energy planning is not only guided by technical issues but also by social ways of imagining sociotechnical transitions to sustainability.
