The method is for processing a veneer (2) having two parallel opposed faces and comprising at least one lignocellulosic layer (4) made of lignocellulosic fibres (6) having a grain (D) extending along the opposed faces of the veneer (2). The method comprises applying a compressive force to the veneer (2) along at least one direction extending along the opposed faces of the veneer (2) so as to mechanically compress the lignocellulosic fibres (6). Installations are provided for implementing the method.
