The availability of the genome sequence of the Amazonian malaria vector An. darlingi has opened new opportunities to dissect at the molecular level the vector-pathogen interactions leading to malaria transmission. Here, we describe the characterization of the genome-wide transcriptional responses of An. darlingi to infection with Plasmodium vivax field isolates. Colonized An. darlingi mosquitoes were fed on blood drawn from P. vivax gametocyte carriers and the abundance of transcripts in the mosquito midgut was monitored at several time points post infection.
