SloR- and Manganese-Responsive sRNAs in Streptococcus mutans

The purpose of this study was to conduct a scan of S. mutans sRNAs that belong to the manganese-responsive SloR regulon. We focused on two sRNAs in particular that we propose coordinate manganese sensing with virulence gene expression in S. mutans. These and possibly other sRNAs represent potential candidates for the development of intervention strategies aimed at alleviating caries.
