Epigenetic regulation of pMDMs in liver fibrosis

Tet2 deficiency in myeloid cells (monocytes, macrophages) disrupts normal epigenetic regulation, leading to a hyperinflammatory phenotype. This promotes the recruitment and expansion of MDMs in the liver. These Tet2-deficient MDMs are key drivers of chronic inflammation and directly activate hepatic stellate cells , the primary fibrogenic cells in the liver, thereby accelerating the progression of liver fibrosis.
