VPRS 7859 Inward Registered Correspondence

This series consists of the correspondence received by the Secretary of the Melbourne Tramways Trust (VA 2692).The Secretary was responsible for briefing the members of the Trust on matters upon which they were required to make decisions and for carrying out those decisions. In conjunction with the members of the Trust the Secretary was ultimately responsible for the oversight of all matters relating to the administration of the Tramways Trust. The Secretary's inward correspondence, therefore, relates to a large range of subjects relevant to the administration of the Trust, including financial transactions, staff appointments and other personnel matters, communications with municipal councils about tramway undertakings, tenders and contracts and Tramways Trust property. Later correspondence also relates to the termination of the Melbourne Tramway and Omnibus Company's lease to operate the Melbourne tramways.
