The purpose of this data set is to give the reader access to the (untreated) experimental data used in the publication "AuCu bimetallic nanocluster-modified titania nanotubes for photoelectrochemical water splitting: composition-dependent atomic arrangement and activity" (DOI: 10.1039/d4nr03219e). The data set is organised in subfolders that contain SEM images of the titania nanotubes and their decoration with AuCu nanoclusters, x-ray spectoelectron spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectra, uv-vis spectra, x-ray diffraction data, and the photoelectrochemical characterisation. Considered samples are bare titania nanotubes (TNT), nanotubes covered with pure gold or copper nanoclusters, and nanotubes covered with alloy AuCu nanoclusters with atomic compositions 25%-75%, 50%-50 and 75%-25%.
