资源简介:
The RSV Nuyina, Australia’s new ice breaker, is expected to come into service in 2020. The Nuyina will be much larger than the RSV Aurora Australis, and consequently, have a greater cargo carrying capacity. It will also have a Roll-On-Roll-Off vehicle capability, making cargo operations more efficient. This new capability will require Antarctic and sub-Antarctic stations to adopt a new resupply model; to enable this, station infrastructure will need to be upgraded. The fieldwork planned for Project 5135, during the 2018/19 Casey resupply period, aimed to provide terrestrial survey data and geotechnical investigation that will inform assessment on where station infrastructure is inadequate to cope with the new resupply model. The project focused on the boat ramp and wharf, catenary areas, and proposed lay down area (priorities 1-3) — with a drilling, sampling, mapping, and surveying program. Several other sites were selected as survey areas of opportunity (priorities 4-11).Surveyor SPR Marcus Miller of the Australian Defence Force carried out a number of surveys at Casey during December 2018:Feature survey of the boat ramp and wharf (1).Feature survey of catenary areas (2a/b).Feature survey of the proposed lay down area (3).Feature survey of the designated area between the northern catenary and proposed lay down area (4).Feature survey of Main Road (5).Feature survey of opportunistic survey areas (6, 7).Feature survey of remaining roads within station limits.Logging geotechnical test pits and sample sites. The final survey data is in dwg and 12daz formats. The raw data is also included in the dataset.Details about the surveys are given in a survey report.
