Tactile sensitivity and motor coordination in infancy - RAW DATA

Mechanical stimuli using von Frey hair monofilaments were applied to the foot at graded innocuous and noxious intensities in human infants at Boston Chidren's Hospital, Boston USA. Outcome measures were tactile and nociceptive threshold (lowest force required to evoke any leg movement, or brisk leg withdrawal, respectively), and specific motor flexion threshold (ankle-, knee-, hip-flexion). <br> This dataset includes sample demographics (including clinical history and study-related information) and motor responses following each stimulus application (identified post-hoc using video recordings). <br> <em><strong>General Anesthesia &amp; Brain Activity Study (GABA): </strong></em> <em>This data was collected as part of the General Anesthesia and Brain Activity (GABA) study. The GABA study is a prospective, longitudinal investigation of neurodevelopment in children who had multiple, single and no exposure to general anaesthesia in the first few months of life. </em> <br> <em><strong>Ethics statement: </strong></em> <em>Institutional review board approval was obtained from Boston Children’s Hospital (IRB-P00028129) prior to starting the study. All caregivers provided written, informed consent prior to their child’s participation in the study.</em> <br> <br> <br>
