资源简介:

Data used in the article "Attracting dynamical modes of highly elastic fibers settling under gravity in a viscous fluid" by Y. Melikhov and M.L. Ekiel-Jezewska. Time-dependent positions of segments of a highly elastic fiber settling under gravity in a very viscous fluid are computed using the precise numerical codes Hydromultipole. Gravity is antiparallel to the z-axis. The fiber is modeled as a chain of N identical spherical beads of a diameter d, with the centers of the consecutive beads connected by springs and with elastic resistance to bending. The diameter of a bead is d=1. Initially, the fiber is almost straight (as in the elastic equilibrium), and oriented almost horizontally, with the bead positions randomly perturbed (random perturbation not exceeding 0.0001d). The evolution of the fiber is monitored until time 106 τHM, with τHM = π η d2 / (N m g), where η is the viscosity of a fluid, and (N m g) is the gravity corrected for buoyancy acting on the whole fiber.
