资源简介:
Biology-environment feedbacks are fundamental drivers of ecosystem patterns. Previous research has highlighted how exploitative consumer-resource interactions, mediated by adaptive dispersal strategy, can interfere in ecosystem resilience. So far, the role of mutualistic pollination relationships on the system resilience is poorly understood. In this study, we show that adaptive pollinator-plant interactions may significantly enhance system resilience to soil salinization through catalyzing biophysical feedback, while improvements in persistence are weak. Despite the general decline in resilience and persistence when the system undergoes salinization and habitat loss simultaneously, especially if exceeding 0.6, adaptive pollinator-plant interaction shows its advantages in maintaining a resilient and persistent system. Such promotion favors to achieve more effective and sustainable restoration outcomes. Our study emphasizes the commonly overlooked yet critical role of inconspicuous pollination in bolstering system resilience against external disturbances. Synergistic protection of plants and their adaptive pollinators is a prospective managerial approach for enhancing ecosystem restoration efforts.
