Parametric assessment of carbon footprint of electricity generation from floating offshore wind farms

Description This folder contains the model and inventory data used for a parametric analysis aiming at quantifying the carbon footprint of electricity generated by a floating offshore wind farm. The analysis encompasses 192 distinct configurations of a semi-submersible floating wind farm situated in Italy, defined by the combination of the following parameters: Capacity of the turbine (15 or 22 MW) Material of the floating platform (concrete or steel) Material of the mooring chains (steel or polyester-steel) End-of-life treatment for the floating platform (sinking or recyling) Capacity factor (15%, 30%, 45%) Type of land cables (underground or overhead) Country of steel origin (Italy or China). The inventory data are contained in the Excel file "complete inventory.xlsx". The model has been developed using the CVXlab Python-based open-source package. The model can be run using the Jupyter notebook "model_wind.ipynb" and the files contained in the zipped folder "model_wind.zip". Results can be visualized in the PowerBi dataset "results_wind.pbix", which relies on the supporting Excel files "scope_mapping.xlsx" and "_set_TECHNOLOGIES_AGG.xlsx". More details about the different files contained in the folder are given in the "Guide to the folder" PDF file. Instructions To replicate the analysis, please follow the steps below: Install CXVlab by following the instructions in the GitHub page (https://github.com/cvxlab/cvxlab.git). Unzip the "model_wind.zip" folder. Please keep the files as they appear when you unzip the folder. Open the Jupyter notebook "model_wind.ipynb" and run the cells following instructions. To visualize the data, open the PowerBi dataset "results_wind.pbix". Ensure you have an ODBC driver installed on your computer in order to import SQL databases. Before refreshing the data, please edit the parameters: path refers to the folder containing the "model_wind" folder and driver refers to the ODBC driver installed on your computer.
