Dread is one of the longest-running darknet community forums and a primary site for discussion of darknet markets, operational security, cryptocurrency, and related topics. The archive covers content posted between April 2018 and September 2025 and is structured as three Parquet-backed splits: posts, comments, and users (with parsed PGP key metadata). It includes 715,877 posts, 3,702,685 comments, and 258,848 users, covering 2,271 out of 2,272 subdreads. Posts contain fields such as title, author, body HTML, and plain text; comments include author, vote count, body, and reply depth; user data includes username, PGP key information (e.g., fingerprint, algorithm, creation time), and parsed user identity records. Data was collected directly over Tor, including only public content, with no drafts or private messages. The dataset contains discussions of illicit topics like drug markets and fraud, and researchers should expect strong language, descriptions of illegal activities, and personally selected pseudonyms.
