The Mission Antyodaya is a convergence and accountability framework aiming to bring optimum use and management of resources allocated by multiple Ministries/ Departments of the Government of India for the development of rural areas. It is envisaged as a state-led initiative with Gram Panchayats as focal points of convergence efforts. The mission conducts an annual survey to collect data on the socio-economic status of rural households. This data is used to identify the poorest and most marginalized households in rural India. The survey covers a wide range of indicators, including: Household composition, Education, Employment, Income,Expenditure, Access to basic services such as water, sanitation, and healthcare, Housing, Food security, energy and fuel. It is carried out coterminous with the People’s Plan Campaign (PPC) of Ministry of Panchayat Raj and its’ purpose is to lend support to the process of participatory planning for Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP).
