Advancing point-of-care ultrasound education in Australasia

This thesis has explored the advancement of point-of-care (POCUS) ultrasound technology and the growing demand for ultrasound training across the health professions. Increased access to POCUS has changed who uses ultrasound, as well as when and how it is used in healthcare. This program of research has made several contributions to the advancement of POCUS education in Australasia and the emerging role of sonographers as interprofessional ultrasound teachers. It has overviewed gaps in ultrasound teaching across the healthcare professions and created a new continuing education resource to support sonographers to teach ultrasound skills to physicians in critical care settings.
