Sample dataset for the ML4EO 2026 IBM workshop sessions

This dataset contains processed Sentinel-2 data along with aerial imagery, terrain maps, and saltmarsh extent and zonation labels from the Environment Agency, to support the examples in the IBM workshop session on geospatial foundation models at ML4EO 2026. Please see the github repository for further information. Files saltmarsh_sample.zip Tiles for fine tuning saltmarsh extent model, split into train, val and test sets. These consist of Sentinel-2 imagery with 6 bands and corresponding labels of saltmarsh extent from the Environment Agency. inference_data.zip Imagery and label data for a section of the Dee estuary, suitable for running larger scale inference. This consist of 6 band Sentinel-2, RGB aerial imagery and digital terrain maps at 2m, and saltmarsh extent and zone labels from the Environment Agency. Dates Because Terratorch requires files to have the same prefix string, dates are not included in file names. The dates corresponding to the data shared here are: Sentinel-2 data from June 2018 Saltmarsh extent and zone data from June 2018 Aerial imagery from July 2024 DTM data from 2022 Saltmarsh Labels The Environment Agency saltmarsh data has been processed to create the labelled data as follows: Shapefiles were rasterised at a 10m grid Saltmarsh Extent was defined as all polygons defined as a saltmarsh category: Pionner, Spartina, Mid-Low, Upper, Reedbeds and Unclassified. Saltmarsh Zone was derived as 4 classes: Class 0: Not Saltmarsh Class 1: Combined Pioneer or Spartina Class 2: Mid-Low Marsh Class 3: Upper Marsh Missing data: missing values in original data, Unclassified saltmarsh, Reedbeds.
